Low-carb conference menu at African Pride Crystal Towers

African Pride Crystal Towers Hotel & Spa has launched an additional low-carb conferencing menu for the more health conscious delegates.

The menu has been created in conjunction with Professor Tim Noakes, an international sports science expert and ‘Original Eating’ proponent.

According to Danny Bryer, Director of Sales, Marketing & Revenue for African Pride Hotels, healthier eating is something guests want.

“This is indicative of an increase in health and diet awareness among conference attendees and in broader society,” said Carolyn Jones, General Manager of African Pride Crystal Towers Hotel & Spa. “Conference snacks and meals have traditionally been starch and sugar-based, but as more people become aware of the impact of diet on their health, hotels and other conferencing venues will have to stop relying on the old catering styles.”

Professor Noakes has been instrumental in spreading awareness about the health benefits of following a diet low in carbohydrates, promoting instead a diet high in vegetables and good fats, and moderate in protein.

Among the healthy new menu items are Poached Quail Egg with Baby Spinach and Parmesan Cheese; Chicken Caesar Salad; Coconut and Almond Smoothie; and Char-Sui Marinated Lamb Rack with Yoghurt and Smoked Aubergine. Prof Noakes’ Original Eating logo will be placed next to each approved menu item, making it easy for health-conscious conference delegates to choose the right snacks and dishes.
