Emirates flies A380 to Mauritius

According to eTuboNews, Mauritius can expect an increase in access by Emirates, after it recently launched its 24th A380 route to the African island.

Travel demand to the island is growing; in 2012, Emirates carried over 350,000 passengers and 6,000 tonnes of cargo between Mauritius and its global network of 130-plus destinations in 78 countries.

The A380, with a passenger capacity of 496, will operate as flight EK 701 departing from Dubai International Airport at 03h10 and arriving in Mauritius at 09h40. The return flight EK 702 will depart at 18h20 and arrives in Dubai at 01h10 the next day. Emirates also operates a second daily flight to the country using a Boeing 777-300, with a capacity of 364 passengers in three classes.

The Dubai-based airline has 35 A380s, which already fly to Amsterdam, Auckland, Bangkok, Beijing, Brisbane, Hong Kong, Jeddah, Kuala Lumpur, London Heathrow, Los Angeles, Manchester, Melbourne, Moscow, Munich, New York JFK, Paris, Rome, Seoul, Singapore, Shanghai, Sydney and Toronto.

The airline operates its flights to Mauritius on a codeshare with Air Mauritius.
