According to Traveller24, flights out of Johannesburg (South Africa) have been affected by the bad weather experienced on Sunday evening, with knock-on effects for Monday morning.

“O.R. Tambo’s arrival rate, usually 30 aircraft an hour, has been reduced to 25 aircraft an hour due to an airport navigational beacon being affected by heavy rain and an induced power failure,” said aviation expert Vincent Lessing.

“All aircraft routing into O.R. Tambo International Airport from other regional airports will also experience delays between 08h00 and 13h00 local time,” said Lessing.

Shaun Pozyn, Head of Marketing for low-cost carrier kulula.com confirmed that the flight delays are operational as opposed to its staff being on strike. Comair staff were issued with a certificate to strike on 22 January, as part of an ongoing wage dispute.
