Why be limited to one airline when you can choose from any airline in the world?
Since Diners Club launched its ClubMiles programme in August 2014, the frequent flyer campaign has proved extremely popular, doubling membership expectations in just six months.
The Diners Club ClubMiles programme offers its customers a world of travel privileges and empowers its Corporate and Personal card members to enrich their personal and business experiences through access to superior services and exclusive benefits.
Grace van Deventer, Senior Manager; Value Chain Management Optimisation, Diners Club SA, says the revolutionary ClubMiles programme is another of Diners Club’s options for choice.
“The complaint we hear most often about redeeming air miles is that seats aren’t available for where and when cardholders want to fly, or that they are too limited,” she says. “With ClubMiles you are free to book your seats on any airline at any time, just as you would if you were paying with cash instead of Miles. You can even use your Miles to pay for airport taxes.
“As the first air miles card to offer this choice, it has proved extremely popular,” she adds. “We have already seen our first cardholder achieve 10,000 ClubMiles, and we are excited to announce that Diners Club has doubled membership expectations since it was launched last year.”
ClubMiles provides card members with valued benefits beyond everyday payment convenience, such as access to over 450 airport lounges worldwide and the flexibility to book a flight from anywhere and anytime around the world. No matter where card members are, they are entitled to privileged treatment and world-class amenities, by just showing their Diners Club charge card. ClubMiles is not affiliated to any programme, it is Diners Club’s own in-house programme and acts as the cardholder’s personal online travel agent. There are absolutely no restrictions on destinations and cardholders can fly to any airport serviced by an IATA airline.
Businessmen and women have the opportunity to travel at any time on any date, with no blackout dates or restrictions on redemptions. The inclusion of airport taxes in the ClubMiles programme has proved incredibly popular. The cardholder can choose to fly in First, Business or Economy Class and enjoy airline loyalty benefits if they are linked to that airline’s loyalty programme (i.e. double dipping). In addition, being Diners Club members, they have access to a range of benefits irrespective of the loyalty programme they are linked to.
Travellers who are already earning air miles with SAA or British Airways and who change to ClubMiles will not lose the miles they have earned. Their BA/SAA reward miles will be calculated up to the time that they move to ClubMiles and allocated to their frequent flyer number.
Platinum cardholders earn 1 Mile for every R7,50 spent and Corporate cardholders receive 1 Mile for every R12 spent.
ClubMiles are earned by using your Diners Club card for purchases, from everyday spend to travel and entertainment. Miles are not earned on fees, ATM cash withdrawals, cash advances, casino chips and fuel. Miles will be reflected on the ClubMiles Account one business day after the transaction is received and processed by Diners Club.
Cardholders linked to the same account earn their Miles jointly. The primary cardholder has the option to have all Miles allocated to his/her card number, or allow Add-on cardholders to earn ClubMiles for their own transactions. Or the primary cardholder has the option to allow all cardholders to earn Miles on their individual ClubMiles accounts.
Miles can be transferred between cards as long as the cards are linked to the same account. The primary cardholder has the option to transfer Miles between cards on the same account via the ClubMiles website.
Cardholders are currently able to use Miles to pay for available flights, airport taxes and hotel accommodation. Additional benefits will be introduced during 2015. Those who do not have enough Miles can purchase top-up Miles on the ClubMiles website using their Diners Club card.
Diners Club sends notification of expiry six months and three months before the Miles expire, giving the cardholder an opportunity to retain his/her Miles balance by using the Diners Club card for purchases from everyday spend to travel and entertainment.
