Air Namibia Frankfurt flights resume normal operation

While airlines that operate an Airbus A330-200 aircraft into Windhoek’s Hosea Kutako International Airport may not land at the airport (see story here), Air Namibia has received an exemption from the Minister of Works & Transport and will be operating the larger aircraft between its home base and Frankfurt, Germany.

The exemption was granted following the airline’s application and taking into account a supporting safety case that was presented.

During the period of the exemption, until such time that HKIA is upgraded to Category 8 or higher, Air Namibia is required to meet a number of specified conditions, aimed at ensuring that safety is not compromised during each arrival or departure of its A330s.

Flights between Windhoek and Frankfurt, which were diverted to Gaborone last week, commenced operations as normal on Thursday evening last week, and there should be no further diversions.
