Delta Air Lines has updated its Fly Delta app for Android and iPhone devices, enabling users to purchase SkyMiles Award tickets from their smartphones.

The update has also improved navigation, so customers can comparison-shop between cabins or fare prices all on the same screen using swipe and toggle features to access additional information.

Further enhancements have more closely aligned the app with delta.com, including the addition of Miles + Cash purchase capability and a News Feed section featuring alerts and advisories. Users also have the ability to watch a flight and track the arrival time through the new Watch Flight function.

In other news, Delta has unveiled the newest expansion to Terminal 4 at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. The $175 million project adds 11 new gates and 7,000 square metres to Terminal 4’s Concourse B and continues Delta’s $1.2 billion investment to enhance and expand the terminal.

Delta is streamlining travel for those with connecting flights at JFK and enhancing access to amenities. With the 11-gate expansion, Delta is relocating a majority of its Delta connection flights from Terminal 2 to the expanded Concourse B in Terminal 4. The new gates at Terminal 4 will feature enclosed jetways and offer customers proximity to a flagship Delta Sky Club and access to chef-inspired restaurants.
