Legacy Hotels & Resorts has completed an addition to its Sandton property, the DaVinci Hotel and Suites. The Sophia  is a 200m2 conference space situated in the Legacy Corner Building on 5th and Maude Streets, set to open its doors on 12 October.

In keeping with the Renaissance architecture and décor of the Mona Lisa and Leonardo conference venues on the hotel’s fifth floor, The Sophia offers a wide range of features including the latest audio visual equipment, state-of-the-art projector and screening facilities, high speed wi-fi, menus inspired by local flavours, and unique themed events. The venue can seat up to 121 people in cinema style, 30 in U-shape, 60 in schoolroom and 36 in boardroom. It can also accommodate 90 to 100 people in the banquet hall, and 120 for a standing cocktail reception.

“The space was a retail shop space previously, so the process behind the construction of The Sophia was quite involved, as we had to decide how best to use the space without having pillars in the venue,” says Mike Rowley of Legacy Hotels and Resorts.
