No more smoking in Avis cars

To keep in line with global standards, and in response to customer requests for clean vehicles that are smoke-free, Avis customers are no longer permitted to smoke in vehicles from 1 August. This is to ensure that Avis customers get vehicles that are new, clean and do not carry a residual odour of smoke.

Should it be found that customers have smoked in an Avis vehicle, customers will be liable for the cost of a valet to ensure the car is fresh for the next renter.

“We acknowledge that there are vehicles that are currently on fleet that might have been smoked in, and it will take some time before our fleet are completely smoke-free,” said Keith Rankin, Avis Chief Executive, Southern Africa.
