O. R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg is undergoing refurbishments in its retail duty-free mall at the international terminal departures in Terminal A.

This is the last phase of the work that begun in 2015. The international check-in processes of passengers will remain at the airport’s Terminal A international departures and the security and emigration handling processes will be relocated to the central terminal building situated opposite the escalators leading to or coming from the Gautrain station.

The project includes the upgrading of ablution facilities, replacement of directional signage, improvement of lighting, replacement of ceiling tiles, and the upgrading of bulk services such as  the air-conditioning units.

Work will begin on 13 February and is expected to be completed by the start of the Easter peak season. During this time, passengers will need to set aside sufficient time to check in.
