The Protea Hospitality Group has entered Zanzibar, bringing the Mbweni Ruins Hotel into the Protea Hotels portfolio.
Protea Hotel Mbweni Ruins is situated seven kilometres from Stone Town and five kilometres from the airport. It offers 13 rooms decorated in traditional Swahili style with all the ‘mod cons’, a restaurant, deck, pool, beach bar, and a spa.
According to Arthur Gillis, CEO of Protea Hospitality Group, Protea Hotels will be entering two new markets, Ghana and Rwanda, in 2014, but the company is also currently exploring opportunities in several other African countries.
