Qatar joins oneworld

Qatar Airways has joined oneworld just one year after receiving its invitation – one of the fastest inductions in the alliance’s history.

It typically takes between 18 and 24 months to comply with the alliance’s membership requirements.

Qatar Airways serves more than 130 destinations in 70 countries across the Middle East, Europe, Africa, North and South America, Asia and Australasia. The airline will strengthen the alliance’s customer offering by providing routing alternatives across many city pairs, and increasing the alliance’s revenue passenger kilometres in Africa, the Middle East and India.

Privilege Club Platinum and Gold members have access to 550 airport lounges worldwide offered by oneworld member airlines when they fly with one of the alliance’s carriers. Qatar Airways’ First and Business Class passengers will also be able to use oneworld partner airline lounges.

Oneworld’s other members include Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Royal Jordanian and S7 Airlines, as well as some 30 affiliated airlines. The alliance’s members and members-elect serve some 860 airports in almost 160 countries, with more than 9,300 daily departures.
