South African Airways and TAM Airlines have signed a codeshare agreement, giving travellers increased access to destinations in Africa and Brazil.

In a statement, Commercial Acting Manager of SAA Manoj Papa said, “This codeshare provides a platform to tap into the potential that lies in both carriers’ respective markets, in a manner that will significantly enhance benefits for passengers of both airlines.”

South African passengers will now have access to Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre, Curitiba, Brasília, Salvador, Florianopolis, Iguaçu Falls, Recife and Belo Horizonte from Sao Paulo in Brazil. Meanwhile, Brazilian travellers going to South Africa will have easy access to Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, East London and Port Elizabeth.

TAM Airlines is the Brazilian brand of the LATAM Airlines group, which merged with LAN Airlines of Chile last year.
