South African Airways is deploying enhanced Global Distribution System (GDS) content following the conclusion of an agreement with Amadeus earlier this year to renew their relationship.
The full content agreement will now enable travel agents to have access to the same content under the same conditions as those offered through SAA’s ticketing offices, call centres and website.
Some of the new efficiencies recently launched by SAA include the Amadeus Electronic Miscellaneous Document system (EMD) – vouchers or coupons for ancillary services and travel extras, allowing travel agents to provide a one-stop service. EMD facilitates Amadeus Ancillary Services, which gives travel agents the ability to process travel extras such as excess baggage and preferred seating.
