South African Airways and the Airports Company South Africa have started a project whereby passengers on domestic flights will tag their own baggage at the self-service baggage counters.
Customers departing on domestic flights from O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg must be in possession of a boarding pass and identification to enable them to make use of this facility. The self-service baggage counters are situated in the departure terminal (B) at counters 47 to 50.
Successful implementation of this project will mean that customers who in the past checked in online, and then proceeded to drop their bags at the bag drop areas, will now be able to tag their bags themselves and place them on the baggage carousel.
SAA staff will still be available at these counters to assist passengers as required and verify identity documentation.
