Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces has renovated the African Banking Corporation (ABC) building – constructed in 1894 – into a conference and banqueting venue that has preserved the heritage of the site.
Located next door to the Taj Cape Town hotel, the new conference venue will cater for up to 400 guests in 330m2 of floor space that was once the old banking hall. The venue can be optimised to cater for up to 300 cinema-seated delegates, or up to 200 delegates seated in a schoolroom format.
“The proximity has allowed for a service tunnel to be built between the hotel’s kitchen and the ABC branch, allowing staff unhindered access to all necessary amenities,” says Willie Williams, Taj Cape Town’s Director of Sales and Marketing.
The 5-star Taj Cape Town offers 176 rooms in the heart of Cape Town’s city centre.
