According to eTNW, the British FCO recommends that tavellers bound for Tunisia be extremely cautious, following the terrorist attack at Port El Kantaoui near Sousse on 26 June, during which a number of foreign tourists were killed.

This is the second terror attack in Tunisia to claim the lives of foreign tourists. The first occurred at the Bardo National Museum in Tunis in March.

The FCO warns that further terrorist attacks in Tunisia, including in tourist resorts, are possible, saying that travellers should follow the advice of Tunisian security authorities and their tour operators.

Travel and tourism plays a pivotal role in the country’s economy, generating over 15% of the country’s GDP at around $7.4 billion, and supporting nearly 14% of total employment in 2014.
