According to eTNW, the Zimbabwean government has instituted a Value Added Tax of 15% on the tourism sector with immediate effect.

The tax, which applies to payments for accommodation by foreign visitors to Zimbabwe, was proposed in the 2014 national budget, and was strongly opposed by the  Zimbabwean tourism industry.

But the government has gone ahead, with the new Statutory Instrument gazetted late on 16 January and publicly announced three days later.
