The new Calabar International Convention Centrewas recently unveiled to the Lagos business travel market, in a presentation to meeting organisers, corporate executives and travel professionals.

The CICC is located in Cross River State, in the south-east of Nigeria, and is scheduled to open in February 2015.

It will be able to accommodate up to 5,000 delegates in 21 different venues, with as many as 2,000 for plenary sessions and as few as 10 in a small meeting room.

“Given that all but the largest conferences involve around 500 to 1,000 delegates, often breaking out into smaller groups, we are confident that we can offer firstclass facilities in Calabar to almost every private and public sector organisation, NGO and professional association,” said Dirk Elzinga, the project consultant on the CICC.

The building is currently 65% complete and on track for its official opening early next year. Once finished, the centre will provide parking for over 700 cars and a monorail will transport passengers across the lake to the Tinapa Business Resort for shopping and accommodation.
