According to eTurboNews, Air Uganda has launched a new payment option which prospective passengers can use to pay for their tickets.

An agreement with MTN’s Mobile Money allows for instant payment of online bookings.

Securing the reservation is as simple as accessing a Mobile Money account via a phone, touching a few buttons, entering a few digits, and successfully concluding the transaction.

In July, the airline revamped its online booking engine and opened up other methods of payment (see story here).

Air Uganda flies from Entebbe to Juba (South Sudan), Nairobi and Mombasa (Kenya), Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro (Tanzania), Bujumbura (Burundi), Kigali (Rwanda), and Mogadishu (Somalia), using a fleet of three Bombardier CRJ200 aircraft.

The two other main mobile money operators in Uganda, Airtel and Uganda Telecom, have reportedly also expressed interest in signing up with Air Uganda to provide equal services to their own subscribers.

Kenya Airways introduced mobile money ticket payments in September (see story here).
