ASATA Column: ASATA Diners Club Awards Reinstated

The awards will honour those people in travel who have gone the extra mile, who have burnt the midnight oil to deliver excellent customer service, and who have ultimately contributed to the professional image of the Southern African travel industry.

The Association of Southern African Travel Agents was established in 1956 and is one of the oldest associations in the travel industry. In that time it has earned credibility and status amongst its members, the travelling consumer and the travel and tourism industry. ASATA has more than 56 years of intellectual capital that has deliberated over major events and transitions that have essentially changed the world it inhabits. Today ASATA represents more than 85% of the local industry in terms of market share, including the head offices of most of the major travel consortiums. Its members are committed to providing the best value, service and choice, together with expert guidance and professional advice.

In much the same way, Diners Club International has grown into a highly respected global brand, with a proud heritage as the world’s first charge card, which was used for the first time over 60 years ago. We at ASATA are happy that Diners Club South Africa has demonstrated commitment to the local travel trade and its business partners, continually looking at more efficient and effective ways to manage travel and entertainment spend.

In short, ASATA and Diners Club International are a good fit, and once again the two parties have joined forces to bring you the ASATA Diners Club Awards. These awards will honour those people in travel who have gone the extra mile, who have burnt the midnight oil to deliver excellent customer service, and who have ultimately contributed to the professional image of the Southern African travel industry. The goal of the awards is to recognise these outstanding individuals, as nominated and voted for by their peers, and to further strengthen the message of professionalism and enhance the credibility and commitment individuals make when choosing to commence, develop and grow a long-term career in travel.

The reinstatement of these awards is an opportunity to present a long-awaited accolade to those professionals in the travel industry who pursue service excellence and contribute to making a difference.

Nominations for the ASATA Diners Club Awards are now open, and details can be found on the ASATA website, www.asata.co.za. Alternatively, go directly to www.asata-dinersclub-awards.co.za
