Avis Rent a Car has consolidated its Group A and M rentals into a single group – Group A. Now all entry level car rental vehicles, including the Polo Vivo Hatch and the Hyundai i10, will have air conditioning.
Avis Rent a Car started in Bloemfontein, South Africa, in 1967 and was listed on the Johannesburg, Namibian and Botswana Stock Exchanges in April 1992 under the name Avis Southern Africa. In 2009, Avis spent about R250-million on upgrading its turnaround facilities and selected rental branches around the country, and in the same year became the first car rental company to become carbon neutral.
