Background

Lagos Oriental Hotel was born in Nigeria in late 2009, with the unique hospitality culture of the Chinese. Built on the expansive Lekki expressway directly opposite the Lagos lagoon, the 11 floor building showcases a simple architecture with massive hospitality services and facilities that are bound to compel any guest to keep calling back.

What’s it like?

Right from the entrance into the lobby with its chandeliers and beautiful Chinese wall decor, to the few minutes required for check-in procedures at the front desk, the hotel radiates its culture of total hospitality. Inside the hotel is an exceptional, dynamic atmosphere as the friendly smiling staff are always eager to help guests.  Expansive lobbies found on all the floors have exquisite leather settees, ideal for relaxation. The spacious rooms begin on the fourth floor. A serene ambience is inspired by the view of Lagos lagoon as all the rooms overlook this natural splendour that invites cooling breezes all day.

Where is it?

Lagos Oriental Hotel is at the heart of Lagos business and corporate activities in Victoria Island. With lots of international and multinational companies located in the area, the hotel is well-suited for guests who desire perfect hospitality service in a cosy environment. I was stunned to find one of the Governors of the South Eastern states in Nigeria as the guest in the Presidential Suite during my stay. It simply tells you the hotel has got class!

The Rooms

Interestingly, ‘suite’ is the best word to describe all the 64 apartments in the hotel as the smallest is 60m² offering lots of beautiful space. There is one Presidential Suite, one Ambassador Suite and two Business Suites on the 11th floor; three Diplomatic Suites, the only Executive Junior Suite and two Junior Suites on the ninth floor, while 38 Classic Superior and 10 Classic de Luxe rooms are spread on the fourth to eleventh floors respectively. I was in one of the latter. The spacious bathroom is designed with marble and mosaic, and features a separate glass-enclosed walk-in shower and deep bathtub to soak in for added convenience. I had the choice between a super-sized Jacuzzi bath tub and the elegant shower in which to freshen up, after which I enjoyed a good night’s sleep on the king-sized bed. All the rooms have LCD flatscreens with a bouquet of programmes, a work table, wireless Internet access, individual air-conditioning control, a room safe, complimentary tea and coffee-making facilities, as well as luxurious bathrobes and slippers.

Restaurants and Bars

The Café is located on the ground floor for bed and breakfast and there are two separate restaurants on the top floor. The Japanese and Chinese restaurants prepare high quality Asian cuisine for guest’s delight. Both restaurants are perfectly designed to complement their origins and offer general and specific menus to suit any event. There are provisions for VIP guests inside the restaurants. The bar, which can accommodate up to 90 guests at a time, has a live band providing musical entertainment as well as assorted wines and other drinks. The bar could be described as a club owing to its size and design.

Meetings and Conference Facilities

Whether you are planning a ball or a gala banquet, a conference or a convention, the Lagos Oriental combines the very latest technology and immaculate service with the elegant flair and traditions of a magnificent five-star de luxe hotel. The hotel offers state-of-the-art conference, meeting and banqueting facilities for up to 400 delegates, with a minimum of 10 delegates, are available. In addition to the traditional and attentive service, the banquet and function rooms are perfectly equipped with an array of facilities to enhance any event.

Rrecreational Facilities

The hotel boasts an Olympic-sized swimming pool and a fitness gym that is equipped with the most modern facilities. The Presidential Suite also has fitness facilities in the suite to suit VIP taste. Guests are also assured of world-class spa treatment on demand.

Verdict

Modern style meets unquestionable comfort, and world-famous Chinese hospitality culture is undoubtedly delivered to the guests. I can assure you that, from my experience, you are in for an experience of grandeur as a guest at the Lagos Oriental Hotel. It is strongly recommended for business travellers who want to enjoy the luxury of impeccable hospitality.
