Marriott to open eight hotels across Africa

Marriott has big African plans for its newly-acquired Protea brand, with eight hotels across six countries due to open by 2016.

In Lagos, Nigeria, there will soon be the 125-room Protea Hotel Select Ikeja and the 155-room African Pride Avalon Hotel & Spa.

In South Africa, look out for the 178-room Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Menlyn in Pretoria.

Ghana will soon boast the130-room Protea Hotel Select Takoradi. Takoradi is a four-hour drive from the capital city of Accra.

In Uganda, construction is underway on the 60-room Protea Hotel Hoima in Hoima, a town 225 kilometres north-west of the capital, Kampala.

The 137-room Protea Hotel Lusaka Tower in Lusaka, Zambia, recently received a soft opening (see story here), and the 80-room Protea Hotel Ndola will open in the next two years.

Rwanda will soon have 25 more hotel rooms when the Protea Hotel Kigali opens in the capital city.
