The multi-million rand upgrade and refurbishment of the Southern Sun Pietermaritzburg in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province, now part of the Golden Horse Casino complex and the Tsogo Sun stable, is complete – marking a new era for the hotel as a 4-star Southern Sun property.
A highlight of the refurbishment project is the hotel’s new 110-seater restaurant and coffee shop Vigour & Verve, situated at the entrance to the hotel adjacent to the reception, and open daily from 06h30 to 23h00.
The refurbishments completed at the hotel include the installation of free Wi-Fi, a new guest business centre, a new entrance and aesthetic changes to the rooms. Every room is equipped with a mini-bar fridge, a safe, 26 TV channel line-up, and complimentary tea/coffee-making facilities. The conference centre has also undergone minor changes.
The hotel features 96 guest rooms, including a presidential suite, three suites, and two disabled rooms; conference facilities for 300 people and an outdoor swimming pool.
