New rule for SA permanent residents

Visa & Passports Unlimited has advised all permanent residents living in South Africa to carry their original permanent residency certificate or South African identity document when travelling, following the Department of Home Affairs’ decision to amend its requirements.

Previously, permanent residents received a stamp in their foreign passports allowing them to enter and exit the country. However, the department will no longer be issuing these stamp endorsements.

Permanent residents wishing to travel across South Africa’s borders are now required to show their original permanent residency certificates to gain unimpeded entry and exit.
