According to eTurboNews, visitors to Zanzibar (Tanzania) could be subjected to additional taxes on hotel stays and at exit ports.
Tourists would be liable for an additional $1 per night, payable with their hotel bill, and a further $1 payable when leaving any airport or seaport from Zanzibar to the mainland.
These proposed taxes are being promoted under the guise of an infrastructure levy and tax.
Time will tell if the proposal makes it through the legislative stages.
