SAA has announced that it will be reducing capacity on a number of international routes in the airline’s network.

The airline filed aircraft changes for its Johannesburg-Dakar-Washington Dulles route, effective 25 March.

SAA plans to operate the route with an Airbus A330-200 aircraft, instead of an A330-300.

The 249-seat A330-300 has 46 seats in business and 203 in economy class.

The 222-seat A330-200 has 39 business class seats and 186 in economy.

SAA cancelled some flights between Johannesburg and Perth during February, March, May and June, due to low market demand and the requirement for aircraft rotations on other routes within the airline’s network.

The airline has also announced plans to introduce the new A330-300 on the London route from 25 March.

However, from 20 April, SAA said it will operate a single daily flight from Johannesburg to Heathrow, replacing the current double-daily service.
