The Town Lodge Umhlanga has opened, bringing the number of hotels in the City Lodge Hotel Group to 61.
The Town Lodge Umhlanga is located on the corner of Umhlanga Ridge Boulevard and Meridian Drive in Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal, and close to sister properties, the City Lodge Umhlanga Ridge and the Road Lodge Umhlanga Ridge.
Town Lodge Umhlanga has 154 rooms, two boardrooms, a restaurant, outdoor swimming pool, social deck and gardens, and 110 parking bays.
There’s also a bar, complimentary wi-fi, and the restaurant serves ‘Full English’, ‘Continental’, and ‘Light’ breakfasts.
The hotel has opened the commercial areas and first and second floors – a total of 76 guest rooms – with the remainder of the rooms opening by the end of August.
In other City Lodge news, the group is undertaking a large-scale solar project at 25 of its hotels.
This follows a successful pilot study at the Road Lodge Centurion in Pretoria, which has a 50kWp (Kilowatt peak) generation system installed on the roof.
The roll-out will result in nearly 4,250 solar panels being installed at 24 hotels in South Africa and one in Namibia, with a combined energy output of approximately 1.45 megawatts of power.
