Hyatt Hotels manages, franchises and develops Hyatt branded hotels, resorts and residential and vacation ownership properties around the world. As of December 31, 2014, the company’s worldwide portfolio consisted of 587 properties.

In February of this year Hyatt appointed Sandra Kneubuhler as Global Sales Director – Africa. “Appointing leaders such as Sandra, who has had great success in her career, gives Hyatt in Africa a solid foundation for the future,” says Michael McBain, General Manager of Hyatt Regency Johannesburg. “Hyatt has recognized that numerous African companies have a growing global travel footprint and that this needs to be recognized and handled as it would be in any other key city in the world”.

Currently there are six Hyatt-branded hotels in Africa – Hyatt Regency Sharm El Sheikh Resort (Egypt); Hyatt Regency Casablanca (Morocco); Hyatt Regency Dar es Salaam, The Kilimanjaro (Tanzania); Hyatt Regency Johannesburg (South Africa); Hyatt Place Taghazout (Morocco); and Park Hyatt Zanzibar (Tanzania). Park Hyatt Zanzibar

The quintessential destination from which to experience the idyllic East African island.

The latest addition to the extensive Hyatt portfolio, Park Hyatt Zanzibar opened in March 2015, making it the first ever Hyatt hotel on the serene East African island and the 36th Park Hyatt hotel worldwide. Park Hyatt Zanzibar reflects the intimate and understated elegance of the Park Hyatt brand while embracing the rich culture, heritage and historical significance of Zanzibar’s unique Stone Town.

Park Hyatt Zanzibar is situated on the beachfront in Stone Town, the historical centre of the city and a designated UNESCO World Heritage site. As the cultural heart of Zanzibar, little has changed in Stone Town over the last 200 years. The town’s unique blend of Arabic and African cultural influences originate from the 19th century when Zanzibar Island served as a centre for the trade of spices. During this period, Zanzibar, also known as the “Spice Island,” was the most important trading hub along the east coast of Africa. Today, the streets of Stone Town are filled with rich aromas of spices, perfumes and local handcrafts.

The hotel is housed in two buildings, one of them Mambo Msiige, a building steeped in history, grace and mystique with a story dating back to the 17th century. A typical Zanzibari mansion, centered round a peaceful courtyard – a retreat from the summer heat – Mambo Msiige is a unique gem with architecture that embraces Swahili culture alongside Arab, Persian, Indian and European elements. The new and purpose built Zamani residence connects to Mambo Msiige, blending old with new, historic with contemporary.

From the spacious, elegant guest rooms to the authentic cuisine, spectacular views, the oceanfront infinity pool, Anantara Spa, fully-equipped fitness centre, complimentary wi-fi and exceptional meeting, event and private function facilities, Park Hyatt Zanzibar offers both discerning business travellers and luxury holiday makers rare, intimate and unforgettable experiences.
