Ethiopian Airlines has instituted an SMS information system for customers in Ethiopia.
The service will allow customers to check flight status and cargo shipment information by sending an SMS to the ethiotelecom 8611 messaging number instead of placing a call to the regular mobile or fixed line central call centre.
The service allows customers to check flight availability, departure and arrival times, flight status and cargo shipment tracking information instantly.
Passengers can text ‘F’ followed by the flight number, or ‘R’ followed by the route they are expecting to 8611, and they will receive the requested information instantly.
